Thanks Giving

Dear Yoga Meditators,

A dear friend sent me a beautiful e-card today. In it she suggested that I do a search for a 5 minutes video called "A Good Day." I have actually heard the moving words of Brother David
Steindl-Rast before, but set to different footage.
However, I imagine I'll never grow tired of hearing it.

Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday. It's a wonderful idea that we gather every year to count our blessings. May we all understand that Thanks Giving is possible every day of the year. All we have to do is look around. Every moment is a blessing. Please, share.

Shanti,
  S.

Consciousness

Dear Yoga Meditators,

In yoga there is a concept that is expressed in several ways. It is the understanding that we create our own reality. We express it as Aham Brahmasmi which, loosely translated from Sanskrit means, " I am the Creative Principal." We also express this philosophy when we use the Neti, Neti, Neti Technique (I am not this thought, I am not that thought, I am not thought) for letting go and quieting the mind.

Today, I read an article that I think you may find meaningful. In the article, scientists discuss the origin of consciousness. Read the article all the way to the bottom and then watch the video to learn what pioneers of Western science are learning:

The Heart Sends Signals to the Brain

So, when your earth life seems out of control and you feel that sitting and calming the mind is of no use, you may want to consider the findings of recent Western research and the wisdom of the ancient science of yoga. Know that you can make a change. Know that you are not the thoughts that arise in the mind. You/we are something more.

“Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking inside a radio for the announcer.” – Nassim Haramein

Deepest Peace,
  S.
